Golden Eagle Festival Tour 2025 Mongolia, This fantastic Golden Eagle festival combined cultural photographing tour takes place in Western Mongolia, on Altai mountains, one of the longest mountain chains in Central Asia. There are about 250 eagle hunters around Bayan Ulgii province. Every year about 100 eagle hunters participate to this Eagle festival with their specially trained Golden Eagles.
Spectacular events include competitions based on speed, agility, and accuracy of these magnificent Golden Eagles and some great Kazakh traditional games such as Kokbar, archery and traditional horse racing etc are also organized on the festival days.
This fantastic Eagle festival celebrating the Kazakh's honored Golden Eagle is also a celebration of Kazakh traditional heritage. The highlights of this fantastic trip is interacting with the Kazakhs and other ethnic groups and living with them for a couple of days to take part in the eagle training and hunting, camel riding and get to know about the unique Kazakh culture. Landscape and cultural sightseeing blend easily in Mongolia – you will have the chance to visit families of nomads – there are also endless opportunities for photography.

Set off from Ulaanbaatar early in the morning with MIAT Airlines, soaring above Mongolia’s vast landscapes and arriving in Ulgii after a swift 2-hour flight. Upon arrival, our SUVs will be ready to take you to your hotel for a smooth check-in.
Depending on your arrival time, we’ll visit Ulgii’s local museum before lunch, offering you a glimpse into the region’s rich history. After lunch, we’ll journey to Boken Mountain, rising 2,700 meters above sea level, where you can capture breathtaking panoramic views of Ulgii town and the surrounding landscapes.
Next, dive into the authentic Kazakh nomadic lifestyle with a visit to a local family, gaining insight into their traditions and daily life. In the late afternoon, we’ll return to your hotel for a relaxing evening, followed by a delicious dinner at a renowned Turkish restaurant in town. ancient art, deep in the Mongolian countryside. Our journey takes us through breathtaking mountainous landscapes, with the pristine Tolbo Lake as our picturesque backdrop. Along the way, we'll pause to capture the stunning scenery and experience the profound beauty of nature.
Our first stop is to meet a renowned shaman throat singer, offering a rare glimpse into this ancient tradition. We’ll also visit the heart of Tolbo village before continuing to the eagle hunter’s remote home. Lunch will be served at a scenic spot by Tolbo Lake, where you can unwind amidst the serene surroundings.
Upon arriving at the eagle hunter’s family, you'll step into the heart of nomadic culture. Here, you’ll witness the incredible bond between hunter and eagle, gaining deep insights into the centuries-old tradition of hunting with eagles. This is not just a visit—it’s a rare opportunity to engage with one of the last true practitioners of this art. You’ll have time to take stunning photos of the eagle hunter and majestic Sair Mountain, towering at 13,000 feet,
As the day winds down, we’ll return to our exclusive ger camp, set up just for your group at the foot of the 4,000-meter-high Sair Mountain. After a delicious dinner, we’ll gather for a powerful shaman ceremony, a truly unique experience. With endless photo opportunities and a deep connection to Kazakh culture, this day promises memories that will last a lifetime. You'll spend the night under the stars in our traditional ger camp, nestled in the embrace of Mongolia’s untamed wilderness. (BLD)
More exciting activities are waiting for you! After a big western style breakfast in our ger restaurant we would go for eagle hunting. It is like safari, that we would use our cars to get some mountains and on some places we would hike with the eagle hunters. There is going to be about 6 eagle hunters joining together. Our eagles might catch fox, rabbit or other smaller animals. It is very rare that eagles catch wolf. Also we would have chance to talk with eagle hunters and ask questions about eagle hunting. On some point we would have to drive up on the mountains to follow the hunters while we would have chances to photograph incredible landscape. After the hunting we would drive back to Ulgii city which is gonna be 2 hours from the place where we are. We would stay at hotel for 3 nights for the coming eagle festival days.
It is going to be the most exciting 2 days. Are you ready?
After the breakfast at our hotel, we would move to Hunter’s hill at 10:15am in the morning which is the place where the eagle festival is going to be held. At this place we would give you the printed copy of itinerary of the eagle festival. Also we would give some information about the eagle festival just before you have your breakfast. At the hunter's hill you will not have interpreter or guide with you all the time. Because there is going to be only 2 guides for the group. But if you need assistance anytime you can go to our gers at the eagel festival site and call the guide on the walkie talkie. He would be right there. We would keep update you with the events happening there.
We have gers (Ger means Nomad tent ) at eagle festival site, so anytime when you want you can use the ger to rest or to get warmed up and have tea and coffee. Only Kazakh tour clients have this chance. We would serve lunches at these gers.(Like the picture on the right) Dinners are in the town, in a restaurant. Let us know in advance if you need a private interpreter for these 2 days. But we do not recommend, coz just no need.
After the breakfast at our hotel we are going to drive heading to Khovd province. On the way we would drive through the Tsambagarav national park and would visit a nomad Mongol family, then to Khovd province. for lunch we would have special Mongolian meal called Khorkhog. The way of cooking this meal is very interesting.. You would learn more while you are there! We would have some additional options for those who doesn't like meat. After this special meal we would drive further to Khovd province, where we would visit local Budhis temple. There would we much more interesting things that are not written here. Then we would check in to hotel and gonna spend the night here in town. After the dinner you would have enough time to pack for the flight tomorrow
We would depart Khovd in the morning and arrive to UB by mid day. You would get transferred to Kempinsky hotel after you arrive to UB airport. Then you would have the whole afternoon to explore the city or shopping. Mongolian cashmere products are popular. By 19:00 we would have farewell dinner.
You would get transferred to airport for your international flight. Hotel check out time is 13:00.
